We are recruiting for a Part-time Administrative Assistant
Key 3 Media is recruiting for a part-time Administrative Assistant in Shrewsbury. This is a great opportunity for someone who has superb writing and organisational skills, who values fun and flexibility in their job and wants to learn about marketing. The role will be flexible – variety is the spice of life – with no real set hours. There may be a certain amount of pressure every now and then but that’s life. The role will be across Key 3 Media but also our sister company, thebestof Shrewsbury.
By being the backbone of the office, this position will be an excellent grounding in how marketing works. Copywriting, web design, social media management, Google AdWords… you will see why we do what we do, how we do it and how it can help businesses. You may expand from the role to become a marketer yourself. That will certainly be encouraged. Learn from the ground up, smile, take pride in your work and the world is your oyster.
But don’t just take my word for it. This is what Louise had to say, who started with us on a part-time basis and is now an invaluable, full-time member of staff:
“Joining Key 3 Media is the best choice I could have made coming out of university. I graduated with a degree in English with Creative Writing, and knew little about marketing when I first approached Andy and Emma. Since then, I’ve gained skills in copywriting, social media management, design, Google AdWords and more. I help manage a dozen Facebook pages for business clients, design Google PPC campaigns and write content on all sorts of subjects including law, fitness, property development and entertainment.
“It’s been just over just a year and a half and I haven’t stopped learning. That’s down to the diversity within the job – every day is different – and to Andy, who is always there to mentor and help me grow as a digital marketer and as a person.
“I’m a stickler for getting the little things right (spelling and grammar especially) and am always excited to expand my knowledge. If you are a similar person, Key 3 Media could be the place for you!”
Who do we want?
We want someone who:
- Cares about their work
- Is gutted when they make a mistake
- Is interested in media and marketing
- Wants to learn
- Doesn’t need hand-holding
- Can use Google to find out something before asking
- Is fun and nice to be around
- Has a good phone manner
- Is polite and positive (although we can have a moan, don’t get me wrong)
- Can spin plates
- HAS AN EXCELLENT GRASP OF WRITTEN ENGLISH, SPELLING AND GRAMMAR
The team can teach you all about marketing. My wife Emma and I have been in the industry for 20 years. We can teach you how to write for sales. But we can’t teach you how to improve your spelling and grammar. There comes a point where you either have it or you don’t. So final applicants must do a written test, I’m afraid!
- Answering the phone
- Making appointments (no sales calls)
- Managing emails
- Managing diaries
- Managing client requests
- Database management
- Basic design
- Client visits
- Content research
- Online purchases
We will be looking to start this role at 15 hours a week, working flexibly from our office on Shrewsbury Business Park as well as a bit from home if you want.
The pay is £10 per hour on a freelance basis.
We guarantee a minimum of 15 hours a week but we anticipate that this will be increased for the successful candidate. After three months, we will both know where we stand and the offer on the table could be working with us on a fully employed basis.
The position comes with an iPhone, and you need to be familiar with Apple Mail, WhatsApp, Google Calendar, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and ideally LinkedIn. A current, clean driving licence is a requirement.
How to apply
We’re not fussed about CVs – they can be the greatest work of fiction since, well… since I wrote mine all those years ago! Instead, in the first instance, use the contact form below to send us two or three paragraphs saying what is your favourite film or TV show and why. So we can see your writing style and a few other little things.
We need this by 30th June 2017.
On July 1st we will shortlist the responses down to people we’ll see across July in our Shrewsbury Business Park office with a view to the role starting on August 1st.
“Administrative Assistant” may sound like a junior role but the responsibilities will be big. And you certainly won’t be skivvying after anyone and making them cups of coffee. We all make cups of coffee. Work hard, have a laugh, be reliable and you will grow as Key 3 Media grows.
